The Journey

Connectcz was founded by Amit Goldy, a tech veteran with over a decade of experience and a passion for using technology to connect people.

After moving to Vancouver, Canada, Amit identified a gap in existing meetup apps, which often cater to large events and lack support for spontaneous, low-key activities. Traditional meetup apps require significant effort and subscription costs from event organizers, leaving little room for casual, small hangouts. This left many underserved, especially introverts who constitute around 50% of the population.

Another issue was that while these apps helped people find momentary connections, they offered little to help maintain them. The absence of an in-app social networking element meant people had to exchange phone numbers and text individually to keep connections alive, which was cumbersome and often ineffective.

Amit's vision for Connectcz was to simplify connecting over casual hangouts and to ensure those connections are maintained. This led to the creation of unique features that help keep new friendships and networks alive long after the initial meeting.
